Bringing Up Bates (stylized as Br1n9ing Up Bates) was an American reality show.
The reality show focused on the life of the Bates family who are devout Independent Baptists, and frequently discusses values of purity, modesty, and faith in God. The Bates avoid birth control saying they have decided to allow God to determine the number of children they have. All of the children are home-schooled, and access to entertainment, such as movies and television, is limited. They practice chaperoned courtship, where the couple gets to know each other in a group setting.
The Bates family was previously featured on a 2012 TV series called United Bates of America, and it was announced in October 2014 that the family would return in a new series which would be called Bringing Up Bates. The series debuted on January 1, 2015 and concluded on June 24, 2021.
On January 18, 2022, Up TV announced the show's cancellation after 10 seasons, with the network stating that they are shifting their focus onto new movies and scripted shows for 2022. The family and film crew had already filmed episodes for season 11 which will not air due to its cancellation.
